Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist as well as a businessperson. She is the co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news website has a TV personality, author, and philanthropist. Her birthplace was in Greece and moved to England at age sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA at the level of economics. She was the first person of non-UK origin to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. In the years following her graduation, she made a name as a conservative syndicated columnist and, with the advent of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. Arianna was able to attract numerous prominent contributors who shared their perspectives on culture as well as political issues. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she ran independently in a recall contest in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. She also headed a Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. The project was named 12th on Forbes' list of the most influential media women. That same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. This included many AOL brands at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business consultant as well as a journalist. Although she was close with her father, it was the bond she had with her mother which shaped her future. In her earliest years she demonstrated the ability to lead that has gained a reputation. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she was a member of the college debate organization Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. After her graduation, she worked as a television presenter and columnist. In addition, she was a part of the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from Bernard Levin.
