Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, located in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with 12 other children. She had a vivid imagination that helped her escape from the grim realities of life. Songs were being written by her before she was able to write or read. After 8 years of age, she acquired her first guitar. As a teenager She began singing on the local radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee. The same year, she released her first album on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While still in highschool, she garnered a name in the local music scene but was always dreaming of a larger stage. When she was graduating in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for someone new to sing on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was hired in 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she quit at the end of Wagoner's show due to the success of her singles like Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was far surpassing the joint songs. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it made it to No. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
